I am the former Editor of the Montreal Mirror, Executive Editor of enRoute Magazine and Managing Director of Strut Magazine.

Specializing in media and contractual law, Ava is a bilingual, award-winning lawyer and editor with extensive business experience in Canada, the UK, Japan and Switzerland. In her dual careers, she has worked with some of Canada’s most respected companies, including Air Canada, Quebecor, CBC-TV, CJAD Radio and Just for Laughs.
Ava has negotiated contracts for Academy Award winners, Grammy nominees, multiple film production companies, advertising agencies, animation houses, large-scale publishers, retailers, start-ups, and many other creative-media clients worldwide.
With big-firm training (Borden Ladner Gervais) and years of in-house and advisory experience (eg. StyleXchange, BG Communications, YBP), Ava advises clients on a wide array of issues, including licensing, copyright clearance, agreements of all types, and is actively involved in contract negotiation and drafting for the music, film, and publishing industries, among others.
As the former Editor of the Montreal Mirror and Strut Magazine, and ex Executive Editor of enRoute Magazine, Ava publishes frequently in Canadian Lawyer Magazine and in the CBA’s Addendum. Her editorial work has appeared in Time Out London, Royal Wings, AOL, and Cycle Canada to name a few.
